thats a very valid point, end as they began. but damn..when adam left, I was like "i need to see them before another leaves!" and now Connor leaves? bummer..but yea best of luck to him. I can kind of see how he feels tho as it seems like he is left out and the band is looking more like the Jonny and Jacob show. Even in the performances, there is a sense of betrayal/contempt as Connor makes a ruckus on the guitar in between songs (playing a flurry of notes during the "Me and the Moon" drum intro)

This one kind of has me over a barrel. I discovered them shortly after the release of Summertime, I didn’t know of Connor then. That’s not making any point just a fact. Connor’s indifference regarding press and interviews was just down to his ways. He didn’t enjoy that shit and made no efforts to prove otherwise and I liked that. On tour they’re together 24/7 that must cause some kind of friction. Its understandable… Maybe they’ll work it out or maybe they won’t.

dammit...right when I get tickets to see the Drums at the Black Cat, Connor ups and tours with the Pains. I really hope he starts playing with the Drums again. It would be amazing to meet them

y’know I can only agree with you, Connor is a really decent guy…If he’s happier doing what he does now then good luck to him but I think its time the fans knew either way as he is/ was an actual member not just a session man. The three of them had this “us against the world” mentality which I adored. But people saying “oh only two original members left now”- The Drums was founded by those two members…and I think The Drums will end how they began.

so what's this thing about Connor? Did he leave the band? oh god no!! please say no!

Even if I knew I wouldn’t say because its up to them. Nothing has been made official by the band (remember Adam?) But Connor is different from Adam in the respect he had creative input with songwriting credit to six tracks from Portamento…I doubt its “creative differences” but I think back to this quote stated after Adam left;

The Drums, in name, will forever remain a trio. “It’s us three,” states Hanwick, “or nothing.”

Are you referring to the very end bit where Connor lets the last chord echo? Thats definitely a cool sound! Do you think the PS3 would help create that almost synthy shimmering guitar sound that starts at 3:30? Do you have any more pics of their live pedal boards? Thanks!

I don’t remember where I saw this but I know the PS-3 enough to know that’s the sound on the lead for Money (live). Essentially you could get away with just a regular pitch shifter set for two octaves up.

That sound is specifically a distorted boss ps-3. It's a delay and pitch shifter.

Ok thanks. I was actually more referring to the pedals they use during their live performances...I'll post an example of the "sound " I'm talking about. It starts at 3:30 and continues throughout the rest of the song. Let me know if you can help. (Since I just realized I can't post links in questions, the video I'm talking about is their performance of "Money" in Chicago at the Subterranean venue - there is only one vid of it on youtube)

ok I’ll have a look. yeah they use pedals for the live show now (though they didn’t at first) as for clothing- vintage suppliers are a good place to start
