Q
So the Drums played Let's Go Surfing at Laneway, despite saying they'd never do so again because they hate it so much... a drastic change of mind or horrible, greedy sellouts?

I’m just really confused

All us who got it had their backs regarding the decision of dropping Let’s Go Surfing from the live show and going against what’s expected of them- to ignore their “biggest hit”. I really respected them for being honest about not being into it at the risk of losing fans.

I can’t think of a single band that hasn’t contradicted themselves or gone back on their word at some point but wouldn’t like to think The Drums have had a sudden change of heart. Bringing it back is only encouraging that representation or misrepresentation they’re trying to rid themselves of. Hoping its just a one- shot thing for festivals or whatever if not all thats been said seems a bit pointless really.

They’ve never said that they’d never play it again but I’d hate to think its some conceded move to which I’d feel disappointed to be honest.
